Daiwa Fuego Spinning Reel

Featured Replies

Anyone have any experience with the daiwa fuego? I was looking at getting one but I am having trouble finding reviews on it. Just curious on what people thought of it.

I bought one. It seems like a nice reel but I haven't had it out on the water yet. The handle is more ball or oval shaped which was a little weird to me but all in all nice reel. The Shimano Sahara would be in a similar price range if you wanted something to compare it to.

I'm new to the Daiwa world, picked up a pair of Ballistics and love them! Idk where Fuego is on the totem pole but if they're in the same ball park as these they should be great reels. I do remember people on here saying the previous gen Fuegos were better but I think they were talking about the baitcasters.

It lacks the magseal feature of the Procyon and Ballistic. That might not be a bad thing if you service your own reel. Great price but I don't know how much downgrade the internal got from previous Fuego reel.

I bought one when they were on sale recently from American legacy fishing for $69. I used it once and it works as advertised. Got the 2500 size.

Yup.  That is exactly what they are talking about.

They were talking about both. The new Fuego spinning reel is probably decent for 99 bucks, but I'm sure it's not even in the same league as the Fuego A spinning reels. Those were some of the best spinning reels ever made! You can't really compare a 99 dollar reel to a 300 dollar reel though. It's just a name.

Thanks for the info.  I don't do spinning so didn't realize there was an old and a new Fuego spinning reel.  Do know about the baitcasters, tho.  :)

Not for nothin but I grabbed both Ballistics 2000 and 2500 for $140 each on eBay free shipping. A little bit more and you're definitely getting a rock solid reel that has plenty of reviews across the web.

I'll agree the ballistic is a great reel for the price, I have the 3000 ballistic ex and I like it better than my 4000 stradic ci4+. The jdm Daiwa luvias is another awesome spinning reel for the price, plus it's made in japan.

I'm not sure if this new daiwa fuego has a direct screw in handle but I know the procyon doesn't. It has the shaft that slides through with the screw on the opposite side. Definitely a deal breaker...for me anyway.
