live well help

Featured Replies

Screenshot_2016-04-22-09-30-03.pngI will try my best to descriptive this. Just got a 03 alumacraft the live well has no pump just a hose laying in the boat. The brown line above is just sitting in the boat it has a pic pipe on the top of the live well to it connects to. so I take it that it is to pump water in. But it has no pump.the red line I have is connected to the back its about 2 inches and to the top of the live well. I belive this is a over flow. The black is a drain on the bottom on the live well connected to the back of the boat. So here's my question do I connect the drain hose (black) to the brown hose with a pump then add one more hose to connect to the back of the boat.. i belive this would make the water circulation but then how would I drain it.. if the makes any sense to you. Thanks.. haha

Any livewell system I've used has a recirculating pump, and a fill/drain pump. At the very least, there should be a fill pump.  The water would run out of the livewell when you pull the boat out.  There should also be a shut off on the fill line.

There is only three hoses on the thing. Got a killer deal on this boat. I will try to get real pictures of it. Only 1 boat shop here and there to bust to look at it..

Yes, three lines.  Recirc in and out, and a fill/drain. Some have a push pull valve on the recirc jet which either rpumps the livewell water out, or recircs in the well. An actual photo or five would help.  It might just be a simple overflow system.

The hose to the on with the PVC is just sitting in the boat no pump no where to connect it. That black disk next to the white PVC is the over flow I think. It's a 2 inch tube to the back where I wrote over flow.

Someone butchered the system.  Looks like a simple overflow setup.  You'd "T" into the left (port side), and run a pump to the spray bar, I think.  Hard to tell - you might enlist another boat owner that knows what's up.  The only that can happen with hoses just lying around, is a possible sinking.  Even if you don't resolve this immediately, please leak test all these lines from the transom.

Your "to drain" in your transom should be an intake pump and should fill the livewell. Overflow to transom should be connected to your drain in the livewell. The hose just laying should be for recirculation.

Double check the white connection on the transom doesnt have a pump in it. If it doesnt then its an incomplete valve system which i know little about (same pump takes in water from lake, then a valve is turned to make it take water from the livewell and recirculate it).

No pump.. the over flow is like 2 inch hose. The drain hose I like 1/2 to 1 inch. I'm thinking I found a picture finnaly. This might work for me. Thank you guys

Yes that is the valve system i was referring to. Should be 3/4" hose on that model.

The picture you put up shows it perfectly.

When you order parts dont forget to order a screen for the intake on your transom.

Yes thank you all I finally got the only boat place to talk to me. I ordered the 3way switch, pump, new hoses and a screen but forgot to get a screen for the in side for the drain/recurulating hole easy fix though.  Thank you all for your help.
