Bucktails for the surf

Featured Replies

I am trying to get into striper fishing from the surf here in NJ. Ive done some research and it seems bucktails are the way to go.

ive been looking on line to try out a few brands but it seems most sites only have vertical jigging bucktails, eyelit on the top versus being in front.  Does anyone have any suggestions of brands/where to buy from online?   I know of some local tackle stores but their inventory is very limited.

I like the savage sand eels. basically a swimbait on a realistic head.

I chased the mighty Striper up & down the East Coast for many years.  Even did quite a bit of Rock Hopping on the Jersey Shore.

Was very fortunate to fish many a night on the sand & rocks with Rich Andres - the man is a Legend.

The Andrus Jetty Caster Bucktail is the Bait of choice.
