Kayaks...no love for them, only disdain

Featured Replies

I might get roasted for this but I know there are others who feel exactly the same way about this kayak "craze".  This must be a good time to be in the yak business!! OMG.  Every small body of water that used to be relatively peaceful is now choked with these stupid crafts and why....because it's "cheaper" and "easier"...so now there's been an influx of people that have access to the water where before they had no option..ie, stayed home and whined OR actually did something else besides crowd the waterways. I despise kayaks and what they've created. I can't go anywhere without seeing them now and I want to bash every one I see. Of course I don't ;)  But you can bet when I get my next boat I will buzz every yak'er I see. Get a real boat and stop pretending. I could buy a yak but don't want one and never will.  Okay, sorry guys, hope I didn't hurt anyone's feelings!

I think the problem is you are letting other's happiness bother you. In a kayak you are limited by a lot of factors you don't have in a bass boat. Current, wind, distance, getting pushed around by wake are all things I'm jealous of when I'm out on my yak and have boaters around me. If I want to change spots it is a 15 minute paddle across open water.

I am more frustrated with boaters that don't have the experience operating a watercraft running into me and people without the decency to give you space on the water.

Just a look from the other side of the table.

Wow. Sorry you feel that way. But don't buzz
a kayaker, please. Think of a kayaker like a
motorcyclist on the road...or better yet, a
cyclist. They can be super irritating, but a
close buzz to one can do some real damage.

I know you're ranting, and I'm not taking any
offense. But a couple things to consider.

First of all, pretending to fish is not what we
do. Just because you have a boat does not
make you better than kayakers.

Yes, there are plenty of newbie kayak fishermen
that have no clue what they are doing. But that
is not all of us. Those people irritate me, too.

It's a craze, yes, but it'll pass eventually.

I have three kayaks, an 18' Xpress, and a 22' Bullet.  I pretend to fish in every one of them.  :P

Come up with some real criticisms next time, we do not allow trolling.  This one done.
