I will be going to carter caves in July for a family get away. I was going to fish smokey valley lake one of the days we were there and was wondering if I could get a little info on the lake. I watched a YouTube video and it looks like a very clear water lake. I'm not used to fishing lakes with more than a couple feet of visibility. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. 

Smokey Valley is a small lake, and not really clear imo.  It used to be a "trophy" lake managed by KDFWR, so there are a few nice bass in there.  Most of the ones I have caught there tend to be 10 - 14 inches.  There have been reports of a few 5 - 6 lb bass caught in recent years.  It gets a lot of pressure from catfishermen.  The "ramp" is a very small unimproved one, johnboat or 2 man bass hunter recommended.

I also like to bluegill fish there, especially with a light fly rod.

This is about the average size bass at Smokey Valley Lake. This is the first lake I visit when the winter blues is over. Its very easy to kayak and this fish was caught just two weeks ago in February.
