I am looking for a portable finder and in another thread you mentioned that you use an Eagle 320.  It was recommended to me but I wonder about its dimensions open and closed, weight etc because I will be using it in a kayak and on my boat.  Do you have the transducer mounted to the trolling motor?  I'm thinking of getting two trnsducers, one for the TM and suction for the kayak.

How do you like it in shallow water?

Lots of questions I know.

Cheers

Hey Bassin,

The transducer I use is mounted to the side of the boat only by a suction cup(very strong too). The 320  weighs only 2-3 lbs. Most of the weight is due to the 8-D batteries required.  Opened, it sits about  7-8 inches  tall. It's probably 5-6 inches wide(I'm at work so I can't give you the exact deminsions). Closed, it has a carrying handle. The screen on the 320 , about 5 in, is a little larger than most, which as I get older I tend to appreciate more(LOL).  In shallow water it's great, probably because it sits a little higher mounted to the side of the boat compared to mounted on a trolling motor, therefore catching less debris. I do like your idea of the 2 transducers though.  Another thing, the batteries seem to last a LONG time with the FishEasy II and the 320. I've only had to replace them twice at most over the course of the summer.  Both are great and  not all that expensive considering the features.

  Great Fishing
