I use a 9 1/2 ft recreational, sit in, kayak on my local lake and it works great. I have it rigged to hold two or three poles. I primarily use spinning gear with it. It weighs 38 lbs without any gear. I can carry or cart it to the lake. It is easy to paddle and comfortable. Plus when you are out there alone, it is very relaxing. Good Luck

Here in AZ I fish temps +100 a lot, in fact last night it was 110F until the lightning came in at 5:45. I agree with Raul. I also go with lighter colors if it is clear and I work any shady areas hard including overhangs, docks, docked boats etc. Toward the evening I start the darker colors. Go slow.

Mac I'm sure that does have an affect. In Arizona you only need to be 12 yr old to drive a PWC. That probably contributes as well. I just want them to be careful so they do not get hurt or hurt someone else. And its easy to get hurt around the docks and landings. 8) GO DEVILS!!!!

scbassin, I always enjoy catching bass on lures or gear I had not been successful with in they past. However, you just gave me something else to target. FINDING and CATCHING bass in NEW locations. It should be a challange and a learning experience

Raul, funny you mentioned that. Saturday, at the two space ramp, when we were loading it was late and not busy. A young man in mid 20's pulls up with a quad and upsidedown jon on a trailer. In about 7 min. he had the boat in, with poles, battery, motor and everything and pulled it onto the bank while he parked the truck. Young and strong. :

Twice this weekend I saw people park their boat on the "ramp side" of the dock. He went to either park or get the truck, while she sat there taking up space in one lane. Both times there was room on the other side of the dock. > Is this OK with you? ??? With two person loaders why doesn't someone idle the boat away from dock traffic until the trailer arrives? And keep the *%$ swimming jet skiers away from the dock area. AARGH! Now thats off my chest, I feel better. ;D

Thanks for the info guys ...more questions though. I have a TM that is 12/24volt ( I can switch back and forth). 1. Can I leave the motor hooked up (all wires) when I charge? 2. With a 2 or 3 bank, would each battery stay hooked to the charger while running? 3. About how long are the wires that go from the charger to the battery? 4. Do you guys use maintenance free or refillable batteries? 5. When charging my engine starting battery, is it necessary to disconnect all the wires?

Chris, what size weight would you use for a 5" grub?

Yesterday while fishing a T-rig spider grub I was reeling it in quickly. It was barely under the surface so it made a ripple on top with the twin tails. Has anyone ever tried to fish it that way with any success?

Shadow, I fish a 9.5 ft kayak I bought new for $265 it 's a Perception Swifty, recreational. You may be able to find one used. It weights 38 lbs without my gear and is easy to handle for a guy 58. I usually carry it about 100 yds to the lake. However, when I'm in the mountains I need to go farther, so I bought an old golf cart at Goodwill for $4.00 and converted it for a total of $23. I also use it as a stand to hold the kayak when I work on it. With a kayak, I'll bet you could convert one of those baby trailers people pull their kids in. Or simply get a gooseneck to attach from under the seat to beyond the tire and convert a cart. Good luck

Gambler, I googled that charger its cool but a little out of my range now. I like the two bank 10 amp also. I have not been able to find a portable 2 or 3 bank, are they all on-boards now? My concern is charging in my garage with the door closed...boom lol ;D

Gambler, that was my thought too. However, is it a pain in the *&% when dropping and raising the motor? What do you know about interference it may pick up from a 23 yr old trolling motor? I like the idea of having it right under me.

How many amps is your charger? I have a 12/24 volt trolling motor, two deep cycle batteries. I almost always run 24 volt. My charger is a 2/6 amp when I put it on six, it still takes 12 hrs to charge a battery. I am looking to shorten the charge time as much as possible. What type/amperage of chargers should I look at? ???

I'm thinking of buying an Eagle 320 portable finder for use on my boat and kayak. I will use a suction cup for the kayak transducer, but for the boat I will have a seperate one. I have a finder on the dash with a tducer on the transom. The Eagle will be on the bow. Where do you like your tducer, bow or trolling motor and why/why not? Open for other ideas.

I have been reading a lot about C-rigs lately. Wouldn't you get the same affect with a split shot rig or by pegging a bullet sinker up the line? Is it all about the size of the weight? I am thinking...slide the t-rig weight up and peg it and you have a c-rig. Add a split shot to a weightless spidergrub, and another c-rig. Just trying to keep it simple. Give me the c-rig advantages. :-/
