  1. fishfinder.com is good only to compare...their prices are definitely too high. Fatdaddy, do you have the portable 320 Fishmark?
  2. I am looking for a portable finder and in another thread you mentioned that you use an Eagle 320. It was recommended to me but I wonder about its dimensions open and closed, weight etc because I will be using it in a kayak and on my boat. Do you have the transducer mounted to the trolling motor? I'm thinking of getting two trnsducers, one for the TM and suction for the kayak. How do you like it in shallow water? Lots of questions I know. Cheers
  3. Fatback, go to fishfinder-store.com to see some comparisons. I am also looking for one, but a portable like davmac uses. Good luck
  4. Roadwarrior, Man that pond has a lot of bass hideouts. Goodluck in the kayak, I will be in mine tomorrow on a lake that does not have near the structure, depth or cover. That sounds like a real score to me. Don't forget your weightless spider grubs. ;D ;D
  5. I just read an article on exactly this happening. It said, as did many of you, to throw something different because the bass are there.
  6. Raul, I am going to try to get to the lake tomorrow. If I remember the camera, I will get some pics to post, IF I can find out how. ;D
  7. Raul...an awesome picture and it does look like our central lakes, rockslides and all. I just read an article about the fish holding in areas where there is structure change like that wall and slide. Now...the big question what kind of lures would you start with? ;D
  8. Raul, you brought up a good point. I was wondering if the bass would stick to their old areas or if they will explore into the newly filled canyons, coves and cover to stage and spawn. Some of the coves alone go from 10' to 80' deep.
  9. Raul, nice pics. I wonder what would happen if I hooked one of those babies while in my 9.5 ft kayak. It would be like surfing. ;D
  10. You're forgiven MuddP, I'm just guessing its the medication talking. ;D We also measure in acres as well as vertical feet. This lake happens to be about 3000 acres now up, I would guess 25'. Roosevelt Lake, once rated as one of the top ten Crappie lakes in the country went from 29% full in Nov 04 to 96% full today, 19,000+ acres. Over 60 vertical foot change. In 1995 Az added 75 feet to the dam, and new ramps. They were not under water until this Feb. The shad are supposed to have a record year there, so the Bass should be banging. Cheers
  11. MuddP, I have not fished this lake often so I have no favorite holes. :-[ Would you go into the many coves, hit the points or flats and what would you use? ??? There are also huge cliffs that go straight into the lake.
  12. AZ reservoirs are the highest they have been in 10 yrs. Trees sticking out of 6 feet of water, bushes underwater, floating debris everywhere, ie. many shoreline changes. Water is brownish green, visibility to 2' max. I'm thinking of pitching some soft plastics for a day. I do not know this lake well, but I have a good map. How would you approach this situation?
  13. I fish docks and docked pontoon boats a lot on my small local lake. Spider grubs, Senkos, TRigged worms work well. I usually start on the shady side in "the angle" formed by the dock and the shoreline. Cast as close to shore as possible and try to make it a soft landing. I cast sometimes 5-6 times to the same area. In early AM and late PM do not hesitate to throw a topwater in the same places, they will bang it! Good luck.
  14. Keep checking this sight. Lots of great useful tips. Welcome aboard ;D
  15. Gobbledog, maybe thats what happens when I feel the two thumps on my Senko but do no hook him
  16. Saturday fished a white spinner with twin hammered colorado blades. Baitfish followed it to the boat by the tons, every cast, but no hits by bass. What would you do?
  17. How do you usually set the hook? Pulling up or sweeping? I ask because when in my kayak, butt virtually on the surface of the water, I lose quite a few after the hit. I am thinking that because I am so low, I should pull up hard...not sweep. Also, thinking of a longer stiffer rod. Ideas???
  18. Where do bass hit a bait? On the head end, tail end, side, bottom? ???
  19. After Saturday I can relate. Full moon Sunday, reservoir is full, game and fish says they are hitting. I go and start by taking Chris' advise with a black buzz. Within 20 min. had a 2.5 in the boat. After that nothing for the day. Sunday I go to my 36 acre lake and catch 5 and had 7 get off. :-[ I think its because I know my lake better so I am going to do a little searching when it gest slow.
  20. Raul, I think you just nailed it. Reeling in the line as the senko falls, only to the point of picking up the excess slack, not to effect the fall. Then when the line moves I will see it sooner...right? I was amazed at how I could see and feel the line move, but by that time, she was really hooked. I am going to practice at Bartlett lake tomorrow. ;D ;D
  21. Raul, last weekend was only my second time fishing Senkos and I had the same problem on three of four. On two of the three, the hook released easily thru the gill and I cut the line. The 3rd was hooked deep in the throat. Should we be keeping a little tension on the line to set the hook quicker, and pay closer attention?
  22. I like the jon boat idea too...more space. There is a place on the web that shows just how you can make bass fishers out of them. Decks, wells, lockers and all. We have a guy in the hood selling a Basstracker about 14', deck, chairs, well, 15hp Force motor and a trolling motor and trailer for $1200 last time I looked. needs a little cleaning and tlc
  23. Raul, will it be closer to come here to Phoenix when/if it opens? If so I will pick you up at the airport. BPS would 15 min. from there. I will even take you to the family restaurant, the El Charro. Cheers Ric
  24. Fisher of Men, it's interesting that you brought up Wal-Mart, because there is a Super Wal-Mart included in the plan. I'm going to have to leave my wallet at home to go to that center. LOL ;D
  25. There is a possibility of a BPS being built in a large commercial/retail developement 5 mi. from my house. However a political group funded by who knows who is against it because of tax incentives. Tell me how far you drive to your BPS or other favorite Outdoor Sports Store. Please.
