Stinger for mattlures bluegill

Featured Replies

I am thinking about getting a couple of these and was wondering what was the best stinger hook and how do you rig it.  Thanks for any input!

I run NO stinger 99% of the time.

i dont know where or when but im sure there were some post about adding trebles  to his baits  as a stinger   and also some knid of attractant, youll have to search for them unless somebody remembers the post

A hoop ring is provided, built into the bait (comes from the belly)  You can attach a split ring and treble or even a single hook for a stinger. (more of a 2nd hook than a "stinger" as it does not run "behind" the bait but under it.

You can certainly add either a treble or single hook as LBH descibes, but you have to take into consideration that the bluegill will lose its great weedless characteristics. It really depends on where you will use it. If your bottom structure allows you to attach a stinger, then I would suggest you do. It can certainly make a big change in your end results....

I added a split ring and size 2 treble. I buried one point of the treble into the bait leaving two points exposed rather than leaving the treble dangling as on a crankbait. I have not had hang up problems so far.  However, there are no weeds in the lakes I normally fish................Al
