Guest hydrillagorilla
I want to buy a new graph/gps unit for my vessel. The options are monster! I have eliminated the upper end of the new stuff strictly because of price. But it looks to me that there are several options in the $400 - $700 range that offer both quality sonar and basic mapping and gps capabilities with some "plug and play" options. Thoughts? Anyone gone through this mess recently? Thank you in advance & Happy Releasing
Bassattackr
Lowrance LMS332C, period. Nothing else will even come close in that price range. ..Or the LMS 480m if you don't need/prefer color.
Guest hydrillagorilla
Thanks Bassatackr! It does not seem there is much of an opinion on electronics here? I just saw another similar post without any replies. What is your opinion on the gps systems and 'plug and play' options? The maps on the plug and play are they detailed? do they just cover the known bass lakes? Man the electronics world is tough? I was looking for first hand opinions/experiance, I can't take the manufactures word for it in their promos.
Guest hydrillagorilla
Bassatackr- the Lowrance LMS332C was one on my list. What do you think about the Eagle line of Lowrance? Seems like they have a similar unit about $100 less? Thanks again!
WCCT
I would get the Lowrance over the Eagle. I should have bought the 332C, but I bought the 330c instead. Once I got the transducer mounted correctly, it works fantastic. I have two buddies that both have the 332c and they would not trade it for the world. It is one sweet unit. You will not be dissapointed.
jayhc2
I know this isnt really what you were asking but if you want to save a bunch of money you could always go with a hand held also. And they take chips. Here is a link on how I mounted mine. Just plum couldnt afford a all in one unit. http://www.texasfishingforum.com/cgibin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=006554

gamblerOH
I have an LMS 480 on my console and love it.It has been in some bad weather and never had a problem. I have a Lowrance x-67c on the bow and its great too. I like the color on the bow since thats where I spend most of my time.
Skeeter_Madness
I've got a Lowrance LCX-18C and it's great. If you're cost conscious, I would look at Eagle as they are made by Lowrance. In fact, most of them are past Lowrance models.
Boo
One problem with Eagles, theyre too sensitive to interferance. Even if you wire directly to the battery! Spend the extra $100 on a Lowrance.
CBedo
I have the Lowrance LMS 332 and love it. I actually have an extra mount in my truck now to use just the GPS when I travel. With mapping software, it is great. As far as the sonar works, what would you expect from a Lowrance? It is top notch! Personally, I adjust ASP (noise filtering) and surface clutter settings to low, and then play with the sensitivity (usually between 70-80). I find that for bass fishing, you get to see good "scratches" with these settings. I also like the fact that the 332 has a fairly small footprint, so that if you wanted to mount it in the front of your boat, it would not be in the way. I actually even use mine on my kickboat. CBedo
I forgot to mention that if you goto the Lowrance website, you can go to the software section and download an emulator of the 332 (or any other unit), and simulate everything that it does on your computer screen. Anything you could do on the water, you can get a feel for on your computer. A great way to test one without plopping down the cash.
