The Rod & the way you use it is just fine. It's the set up I use for my bottom fishing, It works great. Why spend more money?

I have 3 of the CH-101- D7's. I have never had a problem with them & do not plan to replace them with something newer. Why change something that is not broke.

It's hard to beat Shooter

I have 3 743C FH with Shimano Scorpion 71 XG's on them. These are excellent rods & have good sensitivity. You can not go wrong with that rod
