The heaviest rods I currently have are several 6'6" -7' Castaways in MH. I want to get a rod specifically for Carolina Rigs/Frogs/Jigs. Something better suited to fishing heavier baits. My plan is to fish braid on them with a Lews Speed Spool. What rod would be the best bang for my buck and be under $150? I've looked at rods in the 7'3" - 7'6", does that seem like I'm on the right track? Looked at several different models. Lew's, Duckett, H20, All Star Nano, Abu Garcia? I've read that the Abu Garcias are heavier than what they are rated for, would a MH Veritas serve my purpose where I might get a H in another brand? Thanks for any advice I appreciate it!

It's slightly over your price range but a Lamiglas Pro-X 735 will be a great rod for what you want.

Falcon BuCoo Lizard Dragger.  Awesome rod for the money. Specifically made for the C-rig.  I love it for frogs too. I'll even throw big spinnerbaits with it.

Thr falcon lizard dragger is a very versatile rod that is great for fishing Carolina rig and dragging jigs. I haven't used it for frogs though

And...  don't laugh...  the 7'6" H Carrot Stix have a great taper for rigs.

Ok I've had several ppl recommend the falcon I will look at that one close! Also the Dobyns Fury 735. One other question, are Powell rods any good? I was looking at the diesel line specifically. I was sort of confused by their ratings, the 7'3" H action is rated 1/4-1 oz while the 7'6" MH is 1/4-1 1/2 oz. which would be better? I feel like I need the power of the H with the weight range of the MH... I also saw a review where someone said the MH Diesel was too soft for frogs.

From all accounts the Falcon bucoo lizard dragger is an amazing rod and in your price range.

MH Diesel is way too soft for frogs, the H is too stiff for rigs.  Had both.

I would look at a 7'6" H Daiwa Tatula. You can get one for a little over $100 on Walmart.com. They are sweet rods: super sensitive, light, and durable. I would look into these rods, you won't be disappointed

$10 more ($160) and get the Powell 3D max. Probably the 764 rod. So many good rods out there in the $130-$160 price range, but that Powell 3D Max is phenomenal for the price. Or the Powell Inferno for $110 is still an excellent rod. Their utility rod would be great for Carolina rigs and a frog rod.

Also St Croix Mojo Bass, Phenix M1 (a little over your budget at $175-ish but the Phenix Maxim is $110 and a great rod..comes with Sic guides which is unheard of in a $100 rod) Dobyns Fury...etc

Thanks all for the replies. I ended up getting the Dobyns Fury 735. With the Memorial Day sale going on Tackle Warehouse I was able to get it for about 90 bucks. Hopefully it will be money well spent!

I have that rod.  Great choice, also tosses small swimbaits very well.

I have a Falcon Lowrider Lizard Dragger and absolutely love it for C-rigs and a variety of other various applications.

I have several friends that fish with Dobyns... I've heard nothing but good things about them.  Good luck brother. I hope you hammer em.
