Problem with braided line

Featured Replies

I am new to using braided line, but was using 20lb test spiderwire fishing a 5/0 offset hook and 3 separate times this weekend when I set the hook my knot (polamar knot) would slip past the gap in the eye of the hook. Leaving me with a knot but no hook and no fish? anyone else have this problem?? It was a Gamaktsu (sp?) Hook.  Thanks

Pinch the gap down with pliers, braid's smaller diameter will do that to some hooks where there's a gap in the eye.

Welcome aboard!

Try tying a double Palomar knot, aka
Nanofil knot.

You do two wraps of the doubled line
before putting the loop over your hook.

A double Palomar works with smiller diameter braid for me.
