Anybody fish Holeylands recently?

Featured Replies

Thinking about going out there on Sunday for a Fathers Day fishing trip with my son.  Any reports?

Thanks.

I fished it about a month back, lost about a 5-6 pounder when it jumped on a soft plastic swimbait about 5 minutes into the trip. Didn't get another hit all day between 4 people. Conditions were terrible though. We went the day after a cold front, sunny and strong wing.

Thanks for the insight.  I'm thinking it should be turning on out there.

I fished earlier this month close to this area and did extremely well. The bass are there, you just have to travel along the canals to find a good bite.

I fish there often.. it is one of my favorite places to go. Are you fishing from land or boat? I went out there last week Tuesday.. it rained for 5 minutes if that. This place is all about 3 things.. the wind, movement of the water, and the water depth. It is hard to hide from the wind here and if the water is moving it is very hard to catch any fish sometimes its flowing like a river. If the water is too low the bass don't really bite in the canals either for whatever reason.. cant figure this one out and ive thrown every lure in the book in there... If the conditions are right you will slay them of course. Good luck happy fishing.

Thanks for the replies.  I'm fishing from a boat.  I've fished the area twice around 1 year ago, so I'm not really familiar with the area.  Gonna give it a shot and see what happens.  Just looking for somewhere a little different to fish.  I'll report back my findings.
