Fishing in Upstate, SC

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I've lived in Upstate SC my entire life.  Recently I have become more involved in bass fishing and would like to know if anyone knew any spots to fish.  I've fished most of the bigger lakes and rivers around.  I don't have a boat right now or I would always be at Hartwell.  I would love to know if anyone knows of any small ponds that have healthy largemouth around the Spartanburg and Greenville area.  I'm a catch and release fisherman mostly, unless I'm specifically catching crappie  (love the taste of crappie).  Thanks guys, any input would be helpful.

Happy fishing

Go on google and look up SC DNR bank and pier access.  They have it listed by county.

Berry's Pond in Duncan is decent.  There is limited shore access to pond, but I've had good luck there.

There are also some spots on Lake Bowen you can access from shore.

I'm from SC, in the Piedmont. I understand the Reedy R and Upper Saluda R have good fishing. The Broad R is a little east of you but it has smallmouth in it. I want to give it a try one of these days.
