Roanoke River Bass Fishing Help

Featured Replies

Whats up guys. I have a club tournament on the Roanoke River on July 16th and 17th. We are putting in at the Plymouth Ramp. Me and a buddy are going to prefish this weekend. I was wondering if anyone had any tips for fishing there. From my google maps searches I have seen that we will probably go up river from plymouth and fish between the ramp and Jamesvlle. There looks to be some big creeks to fish in along that stretch of river and also a cut through to the Cashie River to the north. As far as techniques I figure shallow water will be key. We will probably start in the back of creeks and look for cooler water and work our way out. Top water in the morning, flipping soft plastics, flipping jigs, swim jigs, swimbaits, spinnerbaits, maybe hollow body frogs? I figure we just need to cover as much water as possible and find what they are wanting. Any ideas to weather we should key in on wood or grass? I have herd some guys from our club say that there are alot of lily pads as well so I figure we will try that as well. Any other Info would be greatly helpful guys. Thanks.
