Hollow belly swimbait rod Tatula

Featured Replies

I have a 7'2" mh glass Tatula rod that I love throwing chatterbaits with. Would this rod be a good rod to throw 3/4 ounce and under hollow belly swim baits with an exposed hook?

If the weight you are talking is 3/4 plus the lure then you are pushing the limits of a medium heavy.  furthermore, a glass rod has a lot of give and bend which in my opinion isn't really what you want for a large exposed single hook.  I would honestly be throwing that lure on a heavy rod with a fast action at least.

I would probably look at the 7'6" HF for those weights and larger hollow bellys.

Sorry, I see you already have the glass rod, I missed that on first read.  You could try it and see how it works.  It's less than ideal though.

I throw that exact bait configuration on a 7'2" H Tatula.  It's pretty awesome.
