I have seen there are a few pros fishing with the older flasher  type depth finder along with the lcd's,

A flasher gives instant responses, a fishfinder is much slower. By the time you see it on the screen of a fishfinder the boat is long past it. If you see it on a flasher then you are on it,they are way better for finding drop-offs. A flasher is the only way to go for running at high speeds

You can see fish in the weeds better and what you see is a fish no doubt. With a flasher you see real time so you can watch fish come up to hit your lure and you can watch your lure drop down to them. A fish finder you can see it too but its not real time even on max speed.

Thanks guys, where could I get a flasher depth finder that will fit in my cosole? there is already a hole in my console for one its 3.5"-4" in diameter. Are they even made any more? And what model would be best? thanks for your responses.

Lowrance still makes one, as well as a couple of others, they are pricey however.  Unless you're very familiar with them, you will most likely think that's close to $300 you just threw away.  Most people that use and like flashers grew up with them, I've been using one since 1966.  I wouldn't have nothing but a flasher going while using the big motor a slowly looking for bait fish and structure   While moving around with a TM, any good LCD will respond just about as fast as flasher.  You can bouce a jigging spoon in 30 ft of water and see it jump up on the LCD at the same time you jerk up on the rod.    It's just once you're going more than a very slow trolling speed that the LCD's start loosing a lot of definition.  

The best thing about an LCD for the beginner, is they log everything so it give a continuous picture of what it's seeing.  With the fasher, you have only those instantanious bars you have to figure out what they mean.
