Can you identify this fish for me, please? I want to eat it.

Redondo Beach, California.  Can somebody please identify this fish?  They are approx 4-7 inches in length.  Small mouths.  Sharp teeth.  Larger ones have the small black stripe with turquoise tint.  Smaller ones are reddish green with black spots.  Are these fish safe to eat as panfish?

Welcome aboard, Joe.

Sorry, mate, no idea what you've got there,
but I totally agree with @Maxximus Redneckus
that you've got bones galore in that there fish.

I believe  what you have there are called rock wrasse.

They inhabit the California  coastal  waters and can get around  12" long.

I would  assume  they are safe to eat, as most fish are, but not really  for certain.
