Trolling motor alignment problem

I have a Motorguide 743 foot control trolling motor. I bought the boat used and have no manuel with it. The pointer dose not point in the durection that the motor is going. How would I set the pointer with the motor? Thanks for any help.

    unscrew the top part or the case and slowly lift it up.  then you should be able to turn the arrow in the right direction.  then just put the case back on.
