Custom cranking rod

Featured Replies

RX7 medium heavy crankbait blank. I had one, sold it, and missed it. My favorite cranking blank - Perfect for the application imo so I had another one built!

Fuji Ecs reel seat, full cork, Fuji alconites spiral wrapped. Pro wrap purple metallic color thread.

Man, that is sweet!  Simple with nice details and top quality components.  Love the full cork handle and EVA butt.

Looks good Hog but it looks like that one is a bit of coach potato! If it was built by who I think it was it should be a real winner;)

Indeed it twas. I haven't even used it yet. Been too busy throwing paddle tails. I'm having Vinnie build me a rod for those too. Took advantage of the Nfc sale. I'm super curious and excited to see how these blanks perform.

Yea, that was a good snag on the NFC blank. I thought about it as well but decided to pass as I am going to re-evaluate my arsenal after the fall to see what I want to do and where any voids are.

What reel are you going to use for the new cranking stick? SV103?

How do you like that seat hood? Better than trimmed threads ?

It looks neat and gives the rod a little character, but let's just say I wouldn't use it on a feel/contact build.

Interested in why you said that. I had a guy I trust tell me the exact opposite. Not busting your chops, amigo, just interested.

Ah HA!  It is "Vinnie" again.  This man seems to be a rather talented and apparently quite busy hobbyist.  Well, here's to Vinnie once more :thumbsup1:

I see no point in any type of foregrip other than cosmetic reasons. Much rather have access to the blank with the reel seat threads trimmed down.
