Trolling motor help

Recommended Posts

I have a 55# thrust minn kota trolling motor and recently the directional arrow on the top stopped moving with my trolling motor.  The motor itself still runs and moves fun but the arrow just kind of sits in the same spot.  Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how do you go about fixing it?  Any information would be helpful.  Thanks.

Looks like you're going to have to perform surgery. I've got a 55# Minn Kota too, man those things are quiet aren't they. If I was you i'd just take the head apart and see what I could find if anything, that was wrong. Thats just me though, I like taking things apart just to put them back together again. Hopefully someone else will chime in and steer you in the right direction.

If its a big black arrow on a red disk...take the top cover off. 4 screws, under the cover. Try to do this with motor vertical. Remove top and snap disk back down on stem. Make sure arrow is pointed in same direction as motor. Put cover back on. If it is broke and won't snap sent to Minn for new one . Their free 8)

I finally got around to looking at the trolling motor this week.  I took off the cover but the arrow not being snapped on wasn't it.  There are 3 gears inside, one that turns when you move the foot pedal, one that turns off of it and one that turns off the one in the middle to move the arrow.  The middle gear actually popped up and wasn't in the gear that turns when you move the pedal.  Had to take the pedastal that the arrow sits on loose and put the gear back in but alls good now.  Thanks for the advice though.
