First Kayak: Pescador vs Future Beach

Featured Replies

Edit: Wasn't smart enough to mention that all the kayaks I mentioned are sit on top.

Hi everyone! Was hoping to get a bit of advice for my first kayak. Right now I've narrowed it down to a 10ft Pescador for $500 or a 10.6ft Future Beach Trophy 126 for $370.

I'm really leaning towards the FB, but I know Perception is a more reputable brand. A problem is that the Pesc. is honestly a bit more than I should spend right now.

Any advice? Is the FB a worthwhile first yak or just a potential regret? Should I bite the bullet and get the Pescador?

P.S. Two other yaks I'm considering are the Perception Ascend 9.5, but the guy at my local kayak shop said he wouldn't go less than 10ft

Or the Pelican Boost 10 Angler, it's $250. The price is hard to ignore but is it something where I'm getting what I'm paying for? Maybe even less?

Thanks in advance everyone.

The difference is bigger than Perception vs Future Beach...or $500 vs $370...to me, the difference between sit-in vs. sit on top is huge.

And, while I'm technically wrong...there isn't any difference between 10 and 9.5.  My wife has a Perception Tribe 9.5 and it doesn't paddle or track any worse than my Wildy 10.

Perception but you pick what you like.

Browse your local craigslist for a week or two and you will find a starting kayak with a paddle for $100.
