Alabama Rigs

Featured Replies

Now that Fall is approaching, I want to try something new. I was thinking of trying the Alabama/Umbrella Rigs. The problem is finding a good rig that will hold up? I've read so many reviews and most say the wire broke after one fish, or the snaps are bad.. and so on and so forth. If anyone has any tips on a good rig I would welcome any input. Thanks

My buddy and have used them for a while for winter time stripers up in CT. I never actually bought any. I'll ask him which ones he uses. We've caught dozens of fish on them before the begin to fall apart. They may be a saltwater grade rig. I'm curious too. I'd like to give them a try for LMB. I'll get back to you.

Honestly a-rigs are just destined to get worn out and break at some point, due to the wires being bent back and forth regularly. I know the strike king ones are a whole lot more durable, but they get tangled so much it's not even worth it in my opinion.

Maybe someone with more experience can correct me on this and point us towards one that's durable and functional

Blade Runner Tackle makes some bomb proof rigs. You'd have to contact him on Facebook or convince a shop to stock em, there isn't much online about it.
