I recently installed the above noted unit on my boat and mounted the transducer to the transom as per Humminbirds instructions,but it will not read on plane,Humminbird says I have to move it around to find the right spot.I don't want to drill anymore holes in my boat..

My question is will the Down Image read through the fiberglass hull if I glue it inside?Thanks

I believe, the down imaging will not read when going more than a few miles per hour. Does the unit also offer 2D imaging? How does that work?

There is a Humminbird DI transducer model XIH 9 DI T. It comes with epoxy. It is the exact same transducer as the transom XNT 9 DI T that comes will all Humminbird DI units.

Like any transom transducer, it will perform at speed IF installed so it can.

So YES you can use it for shoot-thru in a suitable hull. Just need some slow cure epoxy and do the proper testing for the best location BEFORE you attach it inside the hull.

Like ALL the Humminbird DI transducers, it does dual beam 2D sonar and selectable 455 kHz or 800 kHz Down Imaging. The Helix 5 and Helix 7 DI models have 200/455 kHz 2D sonar.

Yes you have to travel less than about 12 mph to get a usable DI image. Adjust the scroll speed to close to the GPS speed for the best performance. Zero to 12 is the speed range---1-10 is the scroll speed setting range.
