St. Croix Triumph X Yes? no? maybe?

Featured Replies

Was looking around at Dicks today and I saw a St. Croix Triumph X casting rod sitting on the shelf. took a good hard look at it and I kinda liked it. Aside from the personally preferences of the split grips how is this rod?

If I were to get this rod it is not going to be a technique specific rod by any means. I will be throwing anything and everything on it. It is a medium power fast action in 7' for $100

my other medium rod in my last post is going to my woman so she can learn a baitcaster. so I'm looking for a new one. advice is appreciated!

It has the St. Croix name on it. It's a good rod.

I was kind of thinking the same thing but you never know.

$60 for a rod you were willing to pay $100 for. Now that's a deal!

No problem. I've felt them they feel good to me. More important, if you like them that's what matters. Might want to hurry because @ScottF might scoop them all up!

I have a 2 piece St Croix Triumph that I have had for years. It has served me well and stood the test  of time. Back when I bought it the  arguement was this rid was the only St Criox that was made in Mexico and not the USA. Still a quality pole and no complaints from me.

The Triumph X looks great with the split grip. I say go for it.

I honestly prefer the old version.  These seem clunkier to me...  But for $60, why not

Please define "clunkier" as it pertains to these fishing rods.

I think it was a combination of the split grip and the squared off butt cap.

Granted, this only comparing them in store next to each other.  St croix now has several rods in the same price point so it certainly gives you options.
