I'm looking to make a trip to the upper chesapeak area, other than Anchor marina, are there other suggestions that might not be as busy for a boater in his rookie season? Thanks, Ken

Maybe try Charlestown? Elk Neck Park? 

Try the launch in Port Deposit.  I've never run into problems there.  Just be aware that you need to cross an active set of railroad tracks.  I believe it was $10 to launch.

I tried out Charlestown....Not bad. I was under the impression that you needed a "permit" to use the Port Deposit ramp. No?

I know you can get a launch permit for there that covers the entire year, but there was always a box at the launch with envelopes.  Put your $10 in the envelop, envelop in the box, and stub on your dashboard.  Maybe something changed recently that I'm not aware of.
