I bought this boat from MO_Tick back in early Feb. Here's what she was like when I bought her ......

Hopefully if the weather cooperates I can paint it during my spring break the week after next.  I am planning on panting it dark green with a with a black diamond shaped line (like a lateral line of a largemouth bass) ;D.  Hopefully she'll be on the water my the first of April.

I would also like to say thanks to LBH for all his insight.

I remember seeing that boat... so what kind of carpet did you use... Boat/Marine or Outdoor?  Wondering because it looks great.  Finally got some time and good weather so I start painting mine tomarrow...

KU!!  that looks Great!! im glad you are getting it done. i am almost done with mine, to many curves and wasted wood to talk about at this point.

Good Job!!

Looks good man! Amazing how each step, the boat gets cleaner and cleaner.

I'm thinking , navy blue w/ chrome lettering :D

Oh yea, I'm pretty sure we have the same boat!  If yours is a 14, you're a little longer but definately the same  make and definately the same era.  These things are the stablest jons I've ever been in.  They are a hair wider than most although in KU's it is decieving because the fron deck makes it "look" slender although it really isn't at all.  Higher gunnels than other jons too.  Only a couple inches or so but it makes a world of difference when you are leaning over the edge to lip a fish or take a wiz or whatever.

KU, do me a favor, check your vin #.  PM me with it, let's compare.  Mine is a '64 according to the first 2 numbers.

Tose high sides are nice.  I have a jon boat at home but when you load 2 guys in it the front end almost sinks, I'd love to have a few extra inches on the sides like that.  Looks good man.

LBH AND KU, just so you know, i did call Landaue in the Ozarks and they said it was a 1979 from the Vin. if i didnt get this other boat, i would have done it.

im glad you are. im glad it being taken care of.

KU, did you survive the Storms? i heard you have no classes today because 60% of campus was damaged.

in Columbia Mo we had some nasty stuff, but nothing for my house.

I am alive!!!!  I went back to my parents house after the storms because we had no power, as well as most of Lawrence, and I had to get to a place to watch the B-Ball game.  As of 11:30 pm last night we still didn't have power.(I am still out my parents house)

You bolt it in... or some people just let there floors fit snug in the bottom so they can remove them easily when they need to.

How did you get the wood to stick to the aluminum?!

It's all removable.  The middle section just rest on the ribs and the front section rest of the benches.  The rear seat will be screwed in though once I screw in the pedestal seat.

What i'm wanting to do is what you did on the rear bench. I want to set 3/4" carpeted wood on my bench...the bench is 1/4" welded aluminum filled with foam so theres nothing to really hold the screw or bolt in place. I didn't know if there was any type of glue or cement out there that would adhere wood to aluminum.

If you can't get to the underside of the aluminum (like inside a seat) I think you can use toggle bolts which I believe screw through and clinch onto the underside of the aluminum holding the wood in place.

A wide bite wood screw will grip pretty well, you just may need to run a phillips head over them once a year.  Pre drill the hole with a small bit first.  Careful because the bit will try and bite into the carpet making it twist itself up the drill bit.

One of the nice touches about my boat is the seats have a "lip" of about 1" that overhangs so I was able to carpet directly to the aluminum and tach unerneathe with a 1/4 inch finish rail.  clean.
