Browning Stalker Gold Baitcasting Combo

Featured Replies

My father-in-law just gave me two Browning Stalker Gold Baitcasting combos that he didn't use, and I can honestly say; they are the SWEETEST Baitcasting combos I have ever used. Yes, I know they are discontinued and I know they are low-end, but they are the best casting reels I have used to date. Anyone else have one of these, and do you know where I can get a manual on them?

Nope.  The rod is IM6 so not the most sensitive, but should be very durable.  The reel has an aluminum frame and brass gears.  I think you should buy your father-in-law a beer......................................or two.

I am going to assume this is the combo you have.

Looks like it. I contacted Bass Pro which will send a manual if they can come up with it, but I love it. Casts so effortlessly. Both still have the plastic, bar code and pricing on the handles. He never used them. Both rods are 6'6 MH.

Wow.  Very nice.  Congratulations.

They should be really nice for things like spinnerbaits, jigs, texas rigged worms etc especially if that has the 6.3 to 1 reel.

It is funny, everyone today wants the latest and greatest graphite rods and reels with a ton of bearings. The rods "had to be"  6'6 then 7 foot, now its 8 foot long. You would think before these latest rods came out there was no one able to catch a fish.  I fished with a guide several years ago and he fished professionally on the FLW circuit. He made his million dollars, and won the boat we were fishing on, by throwing home made Pop Rs on a short 5 1/2 foot long custom made IM6 rod with a pistol grip on it.  He could put those lures farther back under docks than his competitors and that made him successful. Thank you father in law and enjoy your new toys!

I have two browning reels that are still smooth and cast well after years of using them for grinding crankbaits

makes me wonder why I buy the high end reels.
