KS_Bassin
Watching a program on the new E-Tec motor .........No maintenance for like 3 years !! Better gas mileage =longer running times !! No belts or moving parts to break !! No break in period !! No oil changes !! Lower emissions output !! They weighed two 150 HP engines the verado which weighed 528 and the E-Tec 427 !! Now is it just me or does the E-Tec seem too good to be true??
Live.2.Fish
Yeah I too have seen that info thing on tv and it does seem pretty amazing. It seems like a no-brainer, but it does seem too good to be true. They even cut to oil line off to the motor and ran the motor and it did just fine to get you back safe. I guess it goes into "safe" mode and idles to get you back without hurting the motor. They either hit a home run with this new motor or their marketing department deserves a HUGE raise. Either way, they have me sold on the idea.
GuideDog
I have a 75HP E-Tech on my 2004 Lowe Fishing Machine. No issues as of yet. I don't even have to winterize it! (it didn't even heistate to start last spring) Everything is sealed..No oil changes for 3 years and the dealer said to have it serviced in 2007. It's alot quiter the most other motors and only half the emissions. The dealer had a demo setup in the shop and it can Idle for 3+ hours without oil. Nick_Barr
I was talking to a yamaha pro i know and he was trying to say that his V-Max Walks, not speeds, walks past an E-Tec. But he runs a Skeeter, and he sadi he walks past the Ranger. So the ETEC IS REALLY GOOD, I saw it first HAnd at a Tournament and that Thing Flew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

Super User cart7t Posted March 26, 2006 Super User Share Posted March 26, 2006 It would seem Evinrude has hit a homer with the Etec. I'm a Yamaha guy but I'd look into one if buying new. I'd also prefer the power of a 2 stroke over a 4 stroke anyday.
Team_Dougherty
Here is, what I think, a great and an un-biasd article about the E-TEC. http://www.oceanskiffjournal.com/SubscriberContent/Articles/Vol01Issue05/General/ETEC1.aspx
