frog fishin

Featured Replies

hi guys

i been havin some problems with fishin frogs, im fishin in some weeds that have grown thick from the bottem and the lake is really shallow( 3 feet at the most) anyway when i throw and the hit everytime they take it down the the bottem before i get them like 5 ft in and the hook comes out and the bait has a load of weeds on it. one thing a read on the box is to wait 2 seconds the set it. but when i do this the hook it usually out or about to come out. i've had around 10 or so bites and haven't caught a thing so anything would be nice.

Wait until the bait disappears before setting the hook.  It is easy to find out if you set too early, you will have a face full of frog!!!!(Not that I have ever done that myself!!!!)  When I am using frogs in heavy cover, I use 80# Power Pro and ski them in as much a possible.  I think that any braided line will do the trick, it cuts through the weeds pretty well if the fish does get its head down.

same freakin thing happened to my 2 weeks ago. we got about 50 strikes but couldn't set the hook.

heavy rod/heavy line/tighten the rod to your stomach and rio it as hard as you can.

First thing when the fish eats it reel down in till you feel the fish. Then you set the hook. You also might want to sharpen the hooks. Also 60 pound plus braid and a med-heavy to a heavy rod is needed.
