Mecury Optimax 200

Featured Replies

I just bought my husband a 2002 Ranger with an Optimax 200 motor.  I bought it at a Repo lot so it doesn't have any manuals.  We took it out last week for the first time and he said he thought it was trimming on its own.  He asked all of his friends if they had heard of this and none had.  Does anyone know if this motor do this?

I had the same thing happen on my Ranger. When I took it to the dealer they knew exactly what it was. It was the Trim switch on the bow of the boat. They changed it & I have not had a problem since.

I also had this problem with my motor one day.  I found out that the trim controls at the bow of my boat had a wire pushed up against the switch, which was constanly putting the motor down.  I just moved the wire off the switch and voila!!!

Hope yours is that simple. :o
