I noticed on my brand new Lews BB1 I purchased it has a little bit of spool play or a little gear play and it isn't loud but when you spin the handle without any line on the spool you can hear the little bit of play. Is this normal?

If your cast control is set with zero tension on the spool shaft, a little spool play is normal on most baitcasters. Are you sure the noise you hear isn't from the handle knobs? If you're unable to locate the source of the noise, I'd return it for exchange prior to spooling line on it.

Spinning the handle isn't a normal fishing motion and really doesn't tell you much of anything. If the AR and cast control are working and normal reeling feels ok you should be fine. 

It only does this with no line, and all it is a faint noise of the gears moving and a little bit of spool wobbling

And you are correct I always have like zero spool tension because I set the centrifugal brakes 

You need at least enough spool tension to keep it from moving side to side.
