Found a boat....need some advice!

Featured Replies

About two years ago my Uncle and I found a boat on the property that he bought (it was in some brairs near a little creek).  Called the police to see what they said and after about an hour they told us just to keep it.  There aren't any numbers on the boat that we found.  Currently it is at my cabin about 3 hours north of where I live and doesn't get much use.  My question is.....Is it worth it to try and get it registered and out on the lakes around here?  I live in PA and can't stand to think that it will only be used a couple times a year.  We have a small lake up at the cabin.....the boat does float.  Oh yeah it's a little 10ft. flat bottom.  Any advice would help.

Thanks

It floats. You have a cabin on the lake.

My answer....HECK YEA it's worth it to register it. Why not. If nothing else the kids can paddle around with oars if they are old enough and drown some minners.

(I know you can't drown minnows but I like worms so I don't want to drown them.  That's why I use plastiques.) ;D

Worm

well lets see, its free and it floats...it is well worth it..... ;D

not sure about PA but in VA if you aren't going to put a motor on it then you shouldn't have to get it registered, check with PA to make sure.

10' is just right for fitting in your truck and heading to that lake no one else can fish.... :)

hope this helps,

Alfred

I don't know about PA. but states have different requirements based off of the length of the boats etc. In Ohio boats under 14' have to registered but not titled. My point is, if you have to get it titled before you can get it registered you might want to see how much time and money will be involved.

Thanks guys!!  Being new and all I am trying to save as much money as I can and still be out on the lakes!  Easier said then done.  Of course I have to clear it with my uncle to go get it but I don't think that will a problem.  After being on this forum I started thinking about how to get out there, on the water, instead of in it! LOL  I'll let you guys know the progress.....and maybe get some pictures.
