gettin' a Johnson 7.5hp outboard fixed.
I would say it is worth it. Have you looked at the cost of a new motor lately? Even a used one from Ebay in the 9.9 range is running $250-$500 and you don't know exactly what you are going to get. Worm

You know you bass fish when...
When you get your neighbor to help you put your 14ft aluminum boat in a 15ft pool to see if it leaks. Guilty.... ;D Worm

How Old when your Child started Bass Fishing?
I just started taking my son and he is 6. Your summation of questioning how he would do on a boat is legitimate. My son got bored very easily when working a T-rig so I put him on a spinner and he had a ball. He was able to cast and retrieve just like dad. One word of caution though. When you first take him out on the boat make sure he can cast away from you. I and my son learned the hard way. He caught his personal best...275lbs. of DAD....and he foul hooked me to boot. Right in the back through my shirt. Ouch..... ;D Worm

Wacky
Beatifully said T.S. I'm glad even my 6 year old has that mentality. I don't like comin home from fishing feeling like I just threw 9 innings of MLB. Worm

Need your expert advice
I agree with Skwerl on the price. I own a 1959 Richline 14' semi V with a 10hp johnson. I only paid $800 for it with the trailer. It is riveted and does not take on a bit of water at any time. $1500 is WAYYYY to much. Also agree with another poster....Put that thing on the water first and foremost. Worm

Jim, Thanks for the info. That does make sense. Concentrate the power into a smaller area for a better "picture" of what is below you. Now the monkey is on my back saying....must....get.....new......depth.......finder....... ;D Thanks alot..... ;D Worm

Good Price?
I'm not sure what the OK laws are but here in KS a person can have an out of state boat on KS lakes for up to 90 consecutive days without any problems. 2 years ago, my family and I took our jetski to see my brother in Michigan and there was no problem there. Even got a speeding ticket on it and the Ranger didn't say any thing except, "oh, I see you are fom KS." Worm

fish finder
Hey Reellittlephish, I have a question for you. Why would you want a 20 degree cone instead of a 60 degree. My Eagle 168 came with a 60. Is there something better about the 20 degree. This is my first depth finder so just curious. Thanks, Worm

fish finder
I went even cheaper than the Eagle 320. I bought the Eagle 168 for $69.99 at the BPS in OKC back in February and I love it. Not guite the definition of the 320 but still shows the contours very well. I also have an aluminum semi V 14 footer. Mounted the transducer on the the back, filled in around the screws with marine silicone and not one leak. Not a hard job to do at all. Worm

Found a boat....need some advice!
It floats. You have a cabin on the lake. My answer....HECK YEA it's worth it to register it. Why not. If nothing else the kids can paddle around with oars if they are old enough and drown some minners. (I know you can't drown minnows but I like worms so I don't want to drown them. That's why I use plastiques.) ;D Worm

trailer help
I agree with Skwerl. Where abouts are you located. Here in Wichita, we have a boat auction and they sell trailers as well. Boat and Jet Ski. Pretty good prices. Worm

YES!!! Permission Granted! Plus a ?
;D You're not too far off. There are ranchers out there and my Doc said the first couple of times my son and I go I should probably call him so that he can let one rancher in particular know ahead of time that we are coming out. Apparently the rancher in question....don't take too kindly to strangers in these parts ( in my best cowboy movie accent) ;D He said that once "Phil" gets to know who I am then we won't need the Doc to call ahead and let them know we're coming. I also think it is funny that the "Doc" has to call ahead so we do not have any negative experiences. ;D Worm

I agree totally with you. I can assure you that they are loaded. I have seen the pictures of the quantity and quality of the fish in these ponds.

Thanks for the replies guys. It's great to know that I have the Senkos and the jigs in the colors that you recommended. I don't have any poppers. Never tried them. I hear the bait monkey calling. Worm

YES!!! Permission Granted! Plus a ?
Hey all. Second post here. I posted this in the BPS forum but I have a question as well. 1st. Here is what I posted. I just get giddy thinking about it. Just got back from the Dr.'s office who also happens to be a personal friend. I knew he owned some property S.E. of the city with some farm ponds on it. He gave me written permission to fish it and directions on how to get there. He said there are 4 ponds on it, all of which are too small for a boat but you can cast to any place from the shore. The ponds were stocked regularly with LM for the last 10 years. He also said that when they bought the property about 3 years ago they went fishing and caught about 30 LM all 2 1/2 lbs or larger within about an hour. They have pulled some of the smaller one and relocated them to some other ponds on some friends property but anything they have caught 4lbs or larger has stayed in the ponds. The last time he went was last fall and they caught a ton then as well. Can't wait to check it out. Will have to be the weekend after Easter since I have plans between now and then. 2nd. My question...I have never fished a farm pond. Is there anything special for this time of year since these fish do not get pressured hardly at all? What type of lure would you use? Spinner, Jig, Wacky worm, T-rig, C-rig. Just want to be able to have a great time. Thanks, Worm

I currently have a 14' 1959 Richline semi V with a '62 9.9 Johnson and it pushes that little boat around all day long with no problems. Have 2 people and all the gear. Worm
