Why carpet?

Featured Replies

isn't there a better alternative?  My boat stays in the water most of the season.  Covered or not the carpet is wet in the morning.  Everything has dew on it.  Seats are no problem because I Towel them dry.  No wet britches then.  But I always have wet knees when fishng in the morning. Summertime it's not such a big deal but come fall, the days are chilly enough with out adding the wet clothing element.

Come on bass boat making tinkerers.  How about rubber matts or something?

There are some alternatives out there, but carpet gets the job done and is probably less expensive than some of the other options. If you're looking for something to replace your carpet, you may want to check out SeaDek. Never used it myself, but the pictures look really cool and I've read good reviews about it.

Glad I could help. Post some pics if you decide to go this route. I'd like to see how it turns out. Good luck!

carpet is durable for standing, comfortable, UV resistant, and durable. there are other options though

Keep in mind, that those beautifully laid out boats with seadek that are routered around each contour of the boat are exponentially more expensive than the "sheet" prices.

Carpet is cheap, light, quit and works.  There are a number of rubber products that actually work much better, but many are heavier and a whole lot more expansive.
