Now that I have most of the rods that I need for bass fishing, I am going to invest into building my tackle. It is pretty weak in the techniques I am not good at. As you will be able to see, the techniques I am more proficient with are better stocked. I have about: 8 spinnerbaits 1 buzzbait 3 chatterbaits 15 swim jigs (all strike king tour grade) 15 football jigs 15 flipping/skipping jigs 5 grass jigs 2 finnesse jigs 10 jerkbaits (mid to high level) 2 walking baits (both ima) 2 poppers (cheap) 8 frogs (3 nice, 5 cheap) 12 Squarebills (mid level) 12 med divers (lower quality) 1 deep diver (pretty nice) pretty set on terminal tackle, but low on some stuff need tungsten and drop shot weights 25 packs of soft swimbaits (keitech) 15 packs of non GYB senkos, only i don't use 12 of them 5 packs of flipping baits (pit boss) 2 lizard packs 5 packs of drop shot worms This is pretty much all the tackle I own. Hopefully this gives you an idea of what I have. Most of it is in the middle of the quality spectrum. not cheap but not super high end stuff. Only a fews exceptions here and there. I was looking around online, and found some bulk retailers. One offer was 48 packs of net bait stuff for 48$. you can't choose the stuff, but it seems like a steal at 1$ each. Might ask for this for my birthday in february. Any thoughts? Also I've heard good things about bps stick os. Might buy those in bulk too. BPS also has a sexy shad kit. that color works well for me. There is also a deal on Owner twist lock hooks (5 packs of all 5 x/0 sizes). Then there is the 12 packs of brush hogs and lizards for 25$ each. They are in 12 different colors, which may serve me well. I plan on getting tungsten weights too. What do you think of these things? I really want to focus on fishing a lot of techniques this year, even if that means less fish caught this year. I am willing to do that, because it will help in the long run. Can you think of anything else? By the way, I buy most of this stuff with gift cards and when its on sale.

I am not posting twice, and am frustrated as well.

Remember when kids would break a window playing baseball inside or something like that? Well, we break windows and glasses by flipping jigs indoors.

I fund a quarry that was loaded with smaller bass. I easily caught 50 a day. Then, I had the brilliant idea of bringing a trout rod to try for rainbow and lake trout in really deep water. I had an inline spinner. First cast, i hooked a monster. It was not a trout, but a 2.5 pound bluegill. they fight much harder than a bass. it is comparable to a 5 pound largemouth. Non stop action with over 75 a day. Its truly great, that is, until you catch them all.

what kind of worms do you throw? I am thinking that a 7'6" MH or a 7' H would be best for texas rigs. The rod I have in mind (dobyns/irod) are rated as low as .25 oz.

good catch, i meant that I would only purchase 2 one ounce weights and 2 .75 ounce weights. That weight would be really expensive, not to mention overkill. My friend and I were thinking of ordering from Siebert Outdoors, we would order together to save on shipping. I may just get a pack of .5 .25 and .125 of the Strike King weights from Walmart before I order in bulk.

While looking at different stores online, I have noticed that many brans are selling two kinds of sliding tungsten weights. One is commonly called a "flipping" weight; meanwhile, the other is called a "worm" weight. The main difference that I can see is that the "flipping" weight has a more triangular body, maybe to cut through vegetation better. The "worm" weight is longer. Is it possible that this further maximizes sensitivity? Anyways, I am thinking of upgrading to tungsten to the future, so I want to make sure I am fully educated before I make this purchase. I am not fishing too heavy of cover typically. Would i be able to get away with 2 ea of 10z and 3oz weights, 5 ea of 1/2, 3/8, and 1/4 oz "flipping" weights. I was also thinking of getting some 1/2 , 3,8 , 1/4 , 1/8 oz "worm" weights. This list will likely change based on the comments here. Thanks for all the help!

Thanks, i had no idea that they were the same thing. I have seen companies say that they are using high modulus graphite, and others saying that they were using carbon fiber.

Would this rod serve me well as a texas rig and frog rod with 50lb braid?

Which is lighter? Which is stronger? Which is more durable? Which is more sensitive? Which is better?

I am thinking of getting a new rod. For now it would serve as an all-purpose heavy-duty rod. I will fish it with a Quantum Smoke 7.3:1 or a Cabala's Arachnid 8.1:1. I have 30 pound Suffix 832 now, but may change to 50 lb. I would like to become a better texas rig fisherman, so I will be using it for texas rigs 1/4 - 3/4 of an ounce. I will drag that along the bottom, and flip it into cover. Which rod is more sensitive? Which model should I go with? Keep in mind that I may end up getting another Heavy rod at some point. Thanks

looking for a rod that is around $200. I would use it for jigs, texas rigs, light flipping, and wobleheads. also minimum of 1/4 oz tungsten weight. I have a 7'3" MH O M N, but for some reason its just not for me. thanks

8 pound seauguar invisx

Tungsten is too expensive for me to use as a drop shot weight. I used steel dipsey weights, but they rusted my whole terminal ankle box, and weren't very sensitive. I have 1/4 oz voss cylinder weights. they work great, except for the fact that I can't attach them properly, they always cut the line. I found a 1/4 oz lead sinker lying in my boat one day. that has worked amazing, it isn't drop shot specific, but i can tie a knot and it is super good. What is the problem? Can I get away with 1/4 oz weights all around?That seems to work well for me in 4' - 30'. I may consider just using the .25 oz sinkers, even though it might not be best. and what about cylinder vs round vs tear drop?

Looking at buying the G. Loomis E6X 7'4" Heavy. I would use the rod for punching, flipping, swimbaits, and frogging. What do you think?
