2013 Nitro Z7 Minn Kota Talon Questions

Featured Replies

I am looking to purchase a Minn Kota Talon 12' to install on my 2013 Nitro Z7 with the 150HP four stroke. I do not have a jack plate installed and I plan to use the sandwich style brackets to install the Talon. I have read that installing the sandwich style brackets can void any warranty from Mercury. Is this true for the boat and motor that I have? I was unable to find anything regarding this. If this will void the warranty then what is the problem associated with installing these style brackets with this setup? I want to make sure I don't compromise the structural integrity of the transom or anything mounted to the transom. Any help or insight to this would be much appreciated!

Thanks guys!

The "problem" is that Mercury doesn't want anything between the motor and transom that is not designed to connect the motor to the transom. Unless you've purchased an extended warranty, your Mercury warranty should be just about up.
