Will a Humminbird 541 Sonar work with Minn Kota Ulterra Ipilot and/or Link and USB2?

This is on sale at Cabelas for $100. Will it work with the plug in of a Minn Kota Ulterra Ipilot Link and/or just plain Ipilot? Do all Ulterras whether Ipilot or Ipilot Link have Universal Sonar 2 so that I can hook a Hummingbird up to it?

the transducer in a ulterra is a 2d transducer, but the transducer has nothing to do with Ipilot, and Ipilot link, they work off Humminbird gps/chartplotting units that have ethernet capabilties to connect the two. Humminbird.com has a listing of what units are ipilot, and ipilot link capable.

But if you are just concerned with the 2d transducer and that unit working together? Im not sure, I got the compatable helix 9,... try emailing humminbird

iPilot is a standalone function and involves no sonar unit. It is located in the top of the motor.

US2 is a sonar transducer in the motor lower unit and it is adaptable for many brands of 2D sonar units. Just takes the appropriate adapter cable.

A Humminbird 541 is a grey scale 2D sonar unit discontinued over three years ago that will use the US2 transducer with a Humminbird 7 pin adapter cable MKR-US2-8. It has no capability to use the iPilot Link which is a Ethernet connection to a compatible Humminbird unit that uses Lakemaster digital mapping for the "follow the contour" function and have more memory that the iPilot has for tracks and waypoints.

Ulterras can have iPilot, or iPilot Link, and a US2 transducer.

The new Ulterras (just became available) have an additional accessory which is a Bluetooth heading sensor to make spot lock more accurate. That sensor comes with the iPilot and the iPilot Link version.

The minimum current Humminbird model that can use the iPilot Link and US2 is the Helix 7 CHIRP GPS G2N

All the larger screen Helix models can use LINK.

Forgive me for being ignorant. What are you trying to accomplish exactly? The best set up? The best bang for the buck? I am bewildered as to why you would want to pair up a $2500 trolling motor with a $100 graph. That's kinda like putting $4000 rims on a $400 car. You do yourself a disservice by trying to match up top of the line equipment with something that is mediocre at best. If you're trying to make dollars and cents work, you would be much better off buying used equipment that is matched properly than skimping where you shouldn't be. I believe Wayne P answered your other questions pretty well.

BTW there are better sources than Cabelas or BPS to purchase electronics at a discount.

I am planning on buying an Ulterra this year and just need a cheap depthfinder for the front of the boat. With a kid on they way and having to help my wife with her job I'm not sure I'll be able to fish much in the next few years so I don't want to put a ton of money into the depth finder.

In a few years if I can start fishing more again then I can buy a new, better depth finder and by then I expect the technology to be different.

Why not wait and buy them both when you're sure as to what you are doing? You have mentioned in other posts about possibly switching boats. There's also a good chance that in 2 years there will be technological advances in the motors and today's Ulterra will be old news. They've already improved it since it was introduced in 2014

Because I know I'll be able to get out at least a few times a year and it'd be nice to have a depthfinder and the Ulterra for those times.
