Trolling Motor Lock

Featured Replies

Anyone using any TM lock to reduce the chance of it getting stollen?

I've got a transom mount motor guide that I would like to lock down also. Can't find anything on their website about a bar lock. Anybody know where to get one?

I have been in a similar situation with my bow mount Motor Guide.  When I stay at hotels, how do I protect it?

Basically I came up with a system that will keep an honest man honest but if someone wants it they can have it!  I cannot remove it without messing up my graph/transducer so I bought some logging chain and 2 locks and I lock it as tight as I can get it on the shaft (they would have to break the motor, unsrew the top half or cut the chain to get it off and lock the other half to my trailer.

That was my solution, I welcome a better one!

Thought about this lock thing a lot yesterday (should have been working). We have a rack in our maintenance shop that we keep scrap metal on for odd jobs. I found a piece of 1 1/2"unistrut about 7" long. Took it home and it just slides over the handles of my trolling motor mounting screws. All I have to do is drill a hole on the center line of the piece from top to bottom and slide a bycicle lock down through the holes. You won't be able to slide it off from either direction and nobody can loosen the mounting screws. If it rattles when the boat is moving, I'll stuff a rag or a piece of foam plastic in there. I'm a genius.

Golfnut, sounds good. Take some pics after you're done and post them. I'm interested to see how it works and looks. Thanks.

Have you installed this locking system yet?  We would love to see some pics.

Golfnut-MAKE ME 2 PLEASE!!!

I have this one for my 6hp merc (saltwater kicker) but it won't accomodate the T/M screw handles.
