Sealer

Featured Replies

Anyone know what kind of sealer there is out there that you can "paint" on the inside of an aluminum jon boat?  I really would like to stay away from rhino lining.  The boat already has a white/gray coating of something on the inside...Any ideas?

I had an old fiberglass boat that I painted with an inground pool paint that was given to me by my girlfriend at the time father. It was a rubbery kind of paint worked very well. You might want to try a pool place.

It depends on why you are painting it.  If you are trying to keep water out you need to fix the leak first.  Rivits can be tightened with two hammers, one to rest on the rivit and one to hit the other side.  The one john boat i painted i got a special paint from Boaters world that was made for Aluminium(sp).  If the boat is welded then you will need to find a welder that specializes in AL welding.  Either way a boating supply store is going to be the best source for the paint.

Good Luck,

I went to a local marina, and the dude there really had no idea what i was talking about.  He tried to sell me sailboat paint that was $190/gallon.  I told him i would "look around".  I'm not painting it because it leaks...i'm painting it to make sure that it doesn't leak once i get the floors in.

LBH did a restore on his boat that he posted and documented.  I believe he listed the paint products he used.  Might try shooting him an email.
