BPS Carbonlite question for DVT and others

Featured Replies

Hello DVT

I am fixing a reel for a friend that has never been open / serviced since new prob 6yrs.  It's the old gold Carbonlite.  He complains of the drag slipping often.  I'm not finding an issue yet.  I've cleaned it well and greased it.  Any ideas on the drag slippage?  I did order new drag washers from Outdoor World.  Should I order the AR clutch bearing too? I did see some good scuffs on the outside of the AR bearing, but not sure if that's an issue. The parts are quite cheap so I don't mind buying them.

Thanks,

Chris

Is he running braid without backing?

No. I asked that same question. Full spool of fluoro

If I remember that's a dry drag system. Id start there. The main drag washer is a white pressed material, yes? Sounds like the scuff marks are on the AR sleeve, a separate part from the AR bearing. Won't hurt to replace it. I'd put a revo Carbontex drag kit in instead of new OEM

The sleeve looks good I even polished it up.  It was the outside of the AR once I popped it out of the gear plate. I already ordered new drag washers for it before I posted this. It's white or used to be it's pretty dirty, but I really didn't work on it yet.  It's seems ok, but I haven't tested it with line on it yet. Thanks!
