Memphis area rod builder/repair shop

Featured Replies

I live in the Bartlett area and am looking for a local place to have a guide replaced on my Dobyns 702 spinning reel.  Are there any local tackle shops in the area that do guide repair or a builder local who would be willing to change out one guide???  Shipping out rods for repairs is way to expensive and would almost justify the price of a replacement.

I hope you get some replies cause I'm in same boat & live in Southaven. I have 2 St Croix rods that I need the line guides in the tip replaced.

Tiptop's are easy.  Lighter and needle nose and your good.  Hardest part is sizing the new top which is easy with a drill index

Thanks for offer. The problem is I can't seem to find the right size tips for my rods at any of the local sporting goods stores like bass pro, dick's, Academy, etc. Everything looks like the eyelets are too big even if it will fit properly on end of rod.

I could probably find the correct tips for my rods online like at Mudhole, but been too lazy. Other problem is my OCD condition, HA! I took one tip off & then also mistakenly took off the old wrap below it - not realizing it didn't really need to be removed. So I'd like somebody that knows what they're doing re-wrap the tip so it looks nice & neat like when it was new. Like I said, OCD. Lol.

The rumor is you can drop off your rod or reel at the sycamore view bass pro and she will pick it up and return it to that location.  Discussions with the guys in the fishing section says that she does top notch work for a reasonable price.  I had one claim that she is the warranty repair person for duckett.
