New Rod Buyer's Remorse, help!

Featured Replies

I too like the medium heavy fast action  for all around fishing. remember long cast makes extra give and in kayak even more so. be a shame to loose that bigun because of not a good hook set. caused from to much flex or give. but heck if you can afford it keep them both. good luck this year.

Fishing from a yak is going to open up a whole new world compared to shore fishing.  You'll have the opportunity to fish different types of cover and structure.  If you already have a medium spinning combo, I'd want to know when you plan on completing your 4 combo arsenal.  If it's much later on down the road, then I'd rather have a medium/heavy.  If you plan on building your arsenal sooner than later then keep the medium casting combo and add a MH after.  I'd be lost in yak without a MH on board.

In case anyone is curious, I decided to keep the M/F Mojo Bass and look to get a MH/F as my next purchase during the next good BPS sale! Thanks guys.

You done right! The new Mojos are great rods although I think I might like the old Rage rods a little more. St Croix Medium power has a little more "umph" than other rod builders' Mediums as has been said prior. I also fish from my kayak and canoe so I get your dilemma. Depending on the water I take one of two regular four rod arsenals. 6'10" MLXF spinning; 7' MF casting; 7' MF spinning and 7'6" MLXF spinning for clear water, high skies or water I know I will have to finesse and or use topwater. On most other waters I use 7' MF spinning; 7' MF casting; 6'8" MHF casting and 7'6" MF spinning. I do plan on getting a 7'1" MHF casting this Spring for my larger topwaters, small hard swimbaits and light pitching; the 6'8" didn't quite do it last year but is great for target casting and my squarebills.

Glad to hear it.  I think you will be happy with that approach!
