Hummingbird "Wide One" malfunction

Featured Replies

I have an older (1993) HB depthfinder that I'm having a problem with. When I turn the unit on the display shows a boat and "1993" and then the unit turns itself off. I have eliminated the power source and the trasponder as the problem. Anyone else had this happen ? I tried to locate a website for the Hummingbird depthfinders with no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well, if you have eliminated power and the transponder as problems then the only other possible links are cabling and the head end. If it is the headend you maybe out of luck as the unit is 13 years old. It's doubtful that repairing the unit is possible, even if it did make sense financially.

If you can't get it straightened out I'm sure you can find a replacement head unit on Ebay cheap. I'm looking for a 565 or 535 Humminbird head unit for my bow station. I'm seaching humminbird on ebay every night and see tons of Wide Ones, Wide 100s, Wide 128 etc. I actually bought a Wide 128 head for next to nothing but it wasn't compatible with my transducer. I'll keep my eye out for one like yours.

Thanks for the help felllows.  I searched the "hummingbird" website and couldn't find a thing about depthfinders. Not sure if I'm linking up with the correct site. It looks like a telecommunications website to me. :-/

Ah Ha! Thanks!

I've replaced both of my Humminbird units this year with the newer color ones and have two older ones that are in great shape for sale. If anyone is interested I have a wide view and a wide 3D Panorama. Im pretty sure I have all the pieces and parts for them too.
