  1. My MK 74 Maxuum is over a year old and I have never adjusted the tension on it. It works as good as the day I installed it. Just this past weekend a buddy of mine had his cable come apart from the pedal. He lost all control of the TM and had to quit fishing. He said all he hed to do was take it apart by the pedal and put everything back together and it works fine.......
  2. Depending on the boat, the foil may not even be in the water at top speed. I have one on my Nitro, and when I am running at wot, the foil is completely out of the water and does not affect the handling of the boat, but it does help a lot on the hole shot.
  3. I've replaced both of my Humminbird units this year with the newer color ones and have two older ones that are in great shape for sale. If anyone is interested I have a wide view and a wide 3D Panorama. Im pretty sure I have all the pieces and parts for them too.
  4. The Uncle Josh pork has a pre-punched hole in it. It goes on very easy but can be tough to get off sometimes. I have the best luck removing it by rotating the pork 180 degrees and pulling against the flat back part of the hook opposite the barb. It takes practice but I can usually remove it now in just a little flip of the pork. The nice thing about pork is that it stays on the hookthru thick and thin where the plastic tends to pull off after a little while. The drawback is you need to keep it wet or it will dry out.
  5. I've only used my drift anchor a couple times but it worked incredibly good when I did. My last time was up in Green Bay Wisc. on the big lake. We were Carolina rigging humps for smallies and moving so fast we couldn't feel the baits at all. I don't think they ever made it to the bottom. We threw out the drift anchor and it slowed us down to a crawl, enabling us to feel our baits and catch enough fish to wind up 1 and 2 in the tourney!!! ;D ;D
  6. If you have a good boat dealer or bass pro/ Cabelas in your area I would take the old prop in to the store and match it up with a new one. As foe the wire, it would be best if it was the same gauge right from the battery to the motor. If you can, put the ring terminals directly on the wire running to the TM and attach directly to the battery.
  7. I have a 3D Humminbird unit on my boat also and I love it. I keep it in the 3D mode almost all the time, and it gives me a much clearer picture of what the bottom actually looks like.
  8. I just had the same problem with my TM, It turned out that the 2 unused screws on the plug actually hold a jumper together and they were loose, causing the current to arc and melt the plug. I was also loosing power at times and had to wiggle the plug to get it to work. After tightening the screws on the plug I have had NO problems.
  9. steering torque is a very common thing in boats. I had a big problem with mine when I first bought it and tried everything , and then discovered the Torque Wedge made by T&M marine. It's a little aluminum wedge that bolts to the bottom of your skeg to combat that torque. You would not beleive what a differece that little thing makes. I feel like I have power steering now. I can drive down the middle of the river and take my hand off the wheel with no problems. My boat was also a leaner and no longer does that either. You can find the wedge at BPS for about 15.00.
  10. Tupperware is the way to go !!!
  11. Always down, it acts as a rudder and helps the boat track straighter.
  12. Mike, I'm not sure about the Pirahna, but I have had nothing but Humminbird for ovar 20 years now and have had a total of 1 problem. That was taken care of in short order by their repair dept. at no cost to me. I will always reccomend Humminbird.
  13. Merc 150 EFI here. Great motor!!! Starts at the touch of the key every time and have not had any issues with it at all.
  14. I just installed a Boat Buddy on my trailer yesterday and tried it for the first time and is it cool!! Just nosed the boat up to it and gave it a little push and bingo, the pin popped thru the bow eye and I was hooked up !!. This little thing is awesome. I fish alone quite a bit and this is going to save me a lot of hassles. I used to be able to do like a lot of the other guys, get the boat up and leave it in gear with some gas, then run up front and hook up, but since I installed a Hot Foot in it, the motor goes back to idle when I leave the seat and it wont hold the boat in position.
  15. From what I understand, next season the pros will be able to fish out of their own boats for 1 extra day of each tourney. Instead of fishing out of BASS boats on the last 2 days of the tourney they will only do so on the last day. This will give them the opportunity to be seen in their own boats during some of the TV coverage.
