tnroadrnr
When you are using your trolling motor, do you trim your motor up out of the water or leave it down.
dotz
I leave it down. I have noticed that it makes the boat track straight in the wind. Also seems to make boat control much easier. In shallow water I trim it up as little as possible for the control benifit.
Hot n Tot
For me it depends on the depth of the water. If I'm fishing in the open lake I see no need in it. If I'm fishing a shallow or timbered area, I raise the motor to prevent it from hanging on anything.
Shad_Master
I have even left the motor down on windy days while fishing in an area with lots of laydowns to serve as an anchor.
scbassin
Leave it as low as conditions permit for better boat control.
shutout31
Always down, it acts as a rudder and helps the boat track straighter.
digdug
Unless I'm in extremly shallow water, I always leave the motor in water.
