Filler spool notches

Featured Replies

I just purchased some 8# Seaguar Invizx to put on my finesse setup. I understand that you are to place the spool on its face the same way you are reeling (clockwise in my case). Sadly the line would keep getting caught in the notches on the side of the spool. I doubt it was damaging the line, but why are those even there? Or maybe I'm not doing something right?

The label should be face up, not face down. If the spool has notches put it on the mandrel or have someone hold a pencil through the spool wind on the line by running it through a wet towel to add a little tension to the line.

No idea why some spools have notches other than to clip the extra line onto after spooling.

PS, if the line is going on the wrong direction it will start to twist and make loops in the line, stop and flip the spool over if that occurs.
