Trapper Fish Hooks

Featured Replies

Anyone tried these introduced at ICAST?  The Trapper Tackle company came up with the design and it is interesting to say the least.  I watched their video on the design rationale and it seems logical to me, but what do I know.

I could not resist and received 3/0 and 4/0 hooks today.  I Texas rigged a Senko on the 3/0 and it went on very  easily, which I was concerned about with all the hook angles, but no problem.  The bend at the line tie has a great angle which should serve to keep a bait from slipping.  I also noticed that the hook point extends down much further on the top of the worm than the Gammie EWG hook point.  The hook points are really, really sharp.   Now, if it would just get a little warmer I could give it the wet test.

I haven't but I know people who has and every one who tried them says it's there new favorite hook!!

I stopped by the local tackle shop yesterday and on their "new items" rack they apparently went all in and got a pretty large stock of their hooks.  i ended up getting a 25-pack of both their #1 and #2 size finesse/dropshot hooks, and they had one of the larger offset EWG hooks out and hooked up to a bait as a sample and we talked a bit about the theory/practicality of the angles on the hook.  If the stinkin' rain out here in Cali will ever stop(more rain this weekend) I'll give them a go.

I order a couple in few different sizes and models to try them out.  Rigged a couple up for dropshot and they held the plastic worm quite well.  My 6 year old used one for a nightcrawer. It held the live bait extremely well even after multiple casts. Fished with them for about an hour but it was too cold nothing was biting.

OnthePotomac is absolutely correct. They are super super sharp, sharpest hooks I've ever messed with by far.
