Plastic fuel tank???

Featured Replies

This picture  was from earlier today because I had the fuel tank cap valve closed tight and less than two gallons of fuel  in it that's why I was  having a problem with it starting so I put more gas in it open the valve a little more and it wasn't as bad as this pic but a little sunken in.... Do I have a bad fue pump or do I have to open the valve a lot more?

The vent should be open

open the vent. needs to breathe.you got a good fuel pump to cause a tank to suck in like that.

That is common when warm turns to cold. If you close the vent and the weather cools, the gas vapor takes less space and will collapse the tank. Keeping the vent open will prevent that.

The less liquid gas you have in the tank, the more that can happen.

Thanks guys guess I gotta open it more just don't want to over due it, this is my first actual bass rig so I am learning a lot, I've fished all my life on my brother and friends boats and owned Jon boats so this has been a learning experience done a lot to her already I'm pretty proud of my self not being a mechanic, got new fuel tank, ran new fue line, put a new ignition  switch on, put on a new solenoid, new winch, new battery  down the road a few months going to put on new gaskets and clean carburetor out and maybe just maybe focus on fishing lol!!!

Open vent valve all the way and leave it there.
